    clone cf card with xpe

    Hi, I have a thin client with Xp Embedded.on a CF CARD

    I tried to clone the cf using symantec ghost but after it , i have a problem to boot with the new cf.

    How can i clone cf cards with xpe?

    Hi jimi,

    Make sure you are using the -IR switch in Ghost so that you get the MBR. Also, if the system is using EWF (it should be since its a CF) then there is another thing to consider. If the system is using RAM based EWF, but is using the version of EWF that creates a configuration partition (non registry based) then you will need to clone the configuration partition as well. Something like "ghost.exe -IR -CLONE,mode=COPY,src=1,dst=2,szeE -SURE" to copy from disk 1to disk 2. I believe the SZEE is the most important thing here.

    Yes the xpe contain EWF . 

    Do you know another utility that can simply clone .

    Is there any difference among brand ? (sandisk , pqi)

    I am using Acronis to do the cloning and it work well.

    To make an image/clone my CFs I use this open source utility that works every time: http://selfimage.excelcia.org/

     CFs are not all created the same way or have the same quality. There is no way of telling which one is better except by reading reviews. Check http://www.seanliming.com/flashhelp.html
