Control Panel missing when logged in as administrator.

After FBA has run I have to install a few programs, make 1 registry permission change, then reboot. (XPE Feature Pack 2007)

From then on, when logged in as administrator, Explorer no longer shows the Control Panel in the tree view.

I can still access the control panel extensions.

Is there a registry setting to disable the Control Panel?

    Hello taz,

    Take a look here: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/543/

Make sure this value is not being set for HKCU or HKLM.

Re: Control Panel missing when logged in as administrator.

I have Looked for this entry in the registry, but cannot find any.

I have even put a NoControlPanel entry in set to 0

    It still refuses to show.

Whats odd, is the standard user login has the control panel visible.

Would this suggest its a HKCU problem?

I think one of my application installs must be messing with the registry.

    OK. Now this is weird.

I f  I insert a USB memory stick with explorer running,

Up pops the new drive as a removable drive.

And up pops the Control Panel in the tree view.

    That's just weird...
