USB Boot- hangs at first status bar

I'm trying to utilize FP2007's USB boot and can't get it to fully boot.  I've followed all documentation regarding preparing the usb device as well as creating the run time image.  When I boot the device from the USB drive, the initial white status bar progresses to the far right side of the screen, then freezes.  I have left it running for hours to no avail.

Any ideas as to the cause for this would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried other USB flash drives, other brands and models, etc..? Not all USB flash drives work with the USB boot available in FP2007. I think Sean Liming has a list on his website here: http://www.seanliming.com/flashhelp.html

     Brad,

Thanks for your reply.  I've actually gotten more clues since I posted this issue, although I have not yet resolved it.

I ran TAP on another machine and built a basic image for it and copied the image to the same USB thumb drive in question.  The system boots to the thumb drive flawlessly.  FBA ran, everything was good.  I then put the USB drive into the original target machine, and it booted fine (although it didn't have the correct drivers).

SO......I'm wondering if it's a FBA thing...or what.  When I re-created a new image for the troubled target machine, I got the same thing.

    Strange.

     Update:

Evidently I tried too hard to 'keep it simple' and boot to DOS to run TA instead of installing XP and running TAP.  Once I took the time to install XP and run TAP, the boot problem went away.

Who said TA and TAP were essentially the same?  Tongue Tied

Not me! Smile I'm glad you got it sorted. Here is a chart of sorts that outlines the differences between TA, TAP on WinPE and TAP on XP...
