    Stand alone application on xpe

    Hi every body,

I am trying to develop a robotics application to be deployed on xpe sp2 version 2002, I do not know what is the required software package or versions and run-time components on both development machine (having windows xp) and deployment machine (having xpe sp2 version 2002), I do not know if a Matlab application which I prefer can be implemented on xpe, can any body help please?.

    Hi mechatronics1981,

As a rule of thumb, if your application can run on XP Professional SP2 it should be able to run on XP Embedded SP2 if the right components are included in the runtime image. There are many ways to figure out your application dependencies. I would start with Dependency Walker: www.dependencywalker.com You can use Dependency Walker to get a list of libraries required by your application.

Based on the information I was able to find on the Mathworks website you shouldn't have any problem running your application on XP Pro / XPe.

Some things to consider when building your runtime image:

    1. Include a few of the top level Macro components in your image. For example: Windows Based Terminal Professional and Application Compatibility Macro.
    2. Include things like Control Panel applets that may assist in troubleshooting issues (Search for "Control Panel" in Target Designer)
    3. For troubleshooting purposes you could use the "Full XP Professional" component from Sean Liming: http://www.seanliming.com/Components.html

Post specific questions once you get started.

    HTH,
    Brad
