Hi Guys,

I am a new Windows XP Developer and currently having problems with the Dymo LabelWriter 400 USB printer. I can't seem to get the printer installed onto the device. The driver installation starts fine, but during the process I get a error message saying the printer isn't detected and it needs to be re-installed. I have been reading through other forums and seen that loads of other people have had the same problem. I see from other posts that Sean Liming has recommended installing the help files, but  why would this help?

 If anyone knows how to resolve this (what seems common) problem, please let me know.

Hi Sam,

Take a look at the setupapi.log file in \Windows after you try to install the driver. It may tell you what files or Class Installers are missing from the runtime image. Also if you have an opprtunity compare the log to an install on an XP Professional system. This may help to isolate the problem. Also, make sure you have all the necessary components for USB printing support in the build.
